Revolution 1.19 - Children of Men (Or, Man, I Have No Idea Where This Show is Going)
Seriously, this show’s got me totally stumped.
Thanks to my hours and hours of zoning out in front of the idiot tube through the years, I tend to know where most TV shows are going in terms of plotlines and twists and what-have you. I’m not saying I’m always accurate, but I’m MOSTLY accurate.
For the life of me, though, I don’t have a clue where “Revolution” is going. Seriously. This show always goes the unexpected route. It’s like Eric Kripke, the show’s creator/producer/writer, thinks he’s only got one season to do everything he wants to do and he’s trying to get there before the season is up. Only he’s already been given a guaranteed second season, which makes the speed with which “Revolution” races toward its “Tower” storyline a bit surprising.
Hell, I’m even shocked they did away with the Danny storyline by mid-season! I was sure they were going to drag that sucker out for the entire first year, but nope.
Take last night’s episode. We’re in the Tower already??? Yup. We are.
I’m still not a fan of how Miles seems to be devolving as a badass hero. I don’t think the show ever really said what he and his former buddy Monroe used to be, but I always assumed it was either SEALs or Delta Force. Shouldn’t he, you know, fight BETTER if that’s the case? Every time I see Miles in battle now, I cringe, because the guy doesn’t look like he knows how to fight AT ALL. He’s got the shooting thing down. It always makes sense to me when Miles is popping off single shots while Charlie is blasting away on full-auto. But the hand-to-hand fighting. Come ON, Billy Burke, put some time in the gym, man!
Still, I have to give “Revolution” credit. I have no idea where they’re going with the season finale next week, though they sort of gave away the payoff at the end of the promo below. I’m guessing Monroe isn’t going to die, although it looks like Neville will become an even bigger foe next season. Looking forward to that, too.
