I have my issues with TNT’s “Falling Skies” TV show, and frankly, the only reason I’ll even bother with the second season when it premieres this Summer is because, damn, what else is there on TV? There’s a pretty big shortage of quality sci-fi shows, so I guess we better appreciate what we have, right? Terry O’Quinn joining the cast should make the show a little more bearable, even if it is just for a few lousy eps.

Syfy Picks up Justin Marks’ Source Code — er, I mean, Seven Days — er, Make that Rewind
The Syfy Channel is apparently still in the original science fiction TV business. Who would have thunk it? They have “Alphas”, “Warehouse 13″, and “Haven”, but for the most part their line-up is pretty much taken up with cheapie Reality TV shows and wrasslin’. They do still show reruns of your more popular sci-fi shows, but I’m guessing that’s because they bought the rights years ago, back when they were actually a sci-fi channel, and, well, mind as well use it.
Watch the Pilot Episode for Ron Moore’s Unaired 17th Precinct TV Show
“Battlestar Galactica” showrunner Ron Moore’s attempt at blending “NYPD Blue” with “Harry Potter” in a new show called “17th Precinct” didn’t get picked up by NBC, but if it had, this is what you would have seen. Check out the full pilot episode for “17th Precinct”, and sigh at what could have been.
Trailer and Promo Images for the Doctor Who Christmas Special – The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe
So what, this “Doctor Who” Christmas Special takes place outside of “Doctor Who” continuity? Cause the last time we saw the good Doctor, he sure didn’t look ready to save anyone. Whatever the case, check out the trailer for the latest Doctor Who Christmas special, called “The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe”. Gee, I wonder what that’s in reference to?
Gale Anne Hurd Exploring Area 51 in a New TV Series
Oh, Area 51, will people ever leave you alone? Probably not.
“The Walking Dead” producer Gale Anne Hurd is heading back to the forbidden Government facility with a new one-hour TV show called, of course, “Area 51″. The show will be based on the book “Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base” by Annie Jacobsen, and “follow two men working on the base who are thrust into danger when they uncover secrets that the government will protect at any cost.”
AMC Gets Thunderstruck With New Sci-Fi Drama
They’ve already made meth fashionable. They’ve even made period shows about admen actually watchable. Now the cable network will be adding UFOs and aliens to their line-up, with AMC buying the sci-fi drama “Thunderstruck” from writers Paul Boardman and Scott Derrickson.
SyFy Renews Haven for Third Season
The Syfy Channel knows a good thing when it sees it (unless, of course, it’s recently canceled your favorite shows, in which case it, uh, does not?), which is why it’s renewed its original series “Haven” for a third season. The show’s second season ended on a very strong note, so this is definitely good news that Emily Rose and company will be back fighting more “troubled” folks for at least one more season.
Obama’s X-Files? Sort of.
A sci-fi drama with humor as if someone mixed up “The X-Files” with “The West Wing”? Sure, why not.
That’s the basic premise of “Ex-Comm”, a new TV show from feature film director Jon Favreau (“Cowboys and Aliens”) and Seth Green (“Robot Chicken”) that has landed at ABC, where the show has been greenlit for a pilot.
A Terra Nova Review, or, Why The Teenage Kid Gotta be so Predictably Annoying?
Dear Hollywood: despite what you may think, not every teenage boy out there is an annoying little prick suffering from uncontrollable, mysterious teen angst. And certainly not after you’ve sent him a gazillion million years into the past through a fancy schmancy time portal/gateway doohickey, and to a world surrounded by mysterious wonders, dino-friggin’-saurs, and the like.
