That Live-Action Akira Movie That Was Dead? Well, It Ain’t Dead No Mo’
Akiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiira-what?
Apparently you can’t kill Akira, or the movie “Akira”. Variety now reports that the film is back on, with Jaume Collet-Serra back in the saddle to direct after bailing on the project last year.
Of course, “Akira” has been bouncing around Warner Bros. for years now, with the studio wanting a smaller and smaller budget. Which is silly. Why bother making a futuristic “Akira” movie in the first place if you’re going to quibble with the budget? Am I right?
If all goes well (and that’s a mighty big IF there, chief), the film will go into production as early Spring 2014.
