Your First Look at Star Fleet Academy in Trek 11
Sci-Fi Movie News, Star Trek 11 (2009) Movie, Star Trek Universe — By Nix on March 19, 2008
Apparently J.J. Abrams’ version of Starfleet Academy is very bright red and dull grey, and oh yeah, the girls still wear those fetching mini-skirts. Wow, the future is rad, man! Anyhoo. AICN recently got sent some spy pictures (talk about spy! it’s like espionage or something judging from the way these pictures were shot!) from the set of Star Trek 11 that shows off Starfleet Academy. You know, where Kirt, Spock, et al went through their Trekking education. I guess. Check them out.

The production, using the working title CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS, recently filmed at CSUN’s Oviatt Library and a reader went on a photo-hunting expedition for us. Apparently he went into the future looking at the date stamp on the pics.
Gotta love those mini-skirts and boots combo. What’s sexier than space chicks showing leg?

Cool. They also used that set for Sky High.
As long as we avoid anything that resembles Cloverfield in this one I’m there. TREK has been DYING for a reboot for eons and this may just possibly be the kick in the miniskirt it’s needed for a good long time. ENTERPRISE had some great vision toward the end of it’s run, but the last great TREK I remember reveling in was DEEP SPACE 9. A great show, completely underappreciated that generated a true ensamble that continues to showcase talent to this day.
Can’t wait until this movie comes out- I’m really curious to see how the re-imagining will go down. Will they follow the chronology of the books, or will it be something really different?
I wonder exactly when, in the future, the service academies like West Point and Annapolis are going to start dressing the female cadets in minis, to pave the way for that dress code at Star Fleet Academy? This movie will undoubtedly defy credulity in every scene, but miniskirts on female Star Fleet personnel? Ridiculous.
