X-Files 2: I Want to Believe — SPOILERS?
Okay, I’m filing this one under, “Chris Carter really wants to get our goat, so he’s made this crap up just for that purpose”, and no one’s going to convince me otherwise. Besides the fact that the trailers and pictures I’ve seen from the movie, and I’ve seen tons, bears no resemblance to what happens here at all, the whole idea that Scully and Mulder have been involved for the last six years just reeks of fake. Then again, the person who claims to have seen the movie, and sent in this spoiler, did poo-poo the film’s serial killer plot, and would Carter really diss his own movie’s plot just to throw out some misinformation about Scully and Mulder? Hmm…
Anyways, here are the supposed SPOILERS. Take them for what you will. (via)
- Mulder and Scully have not been separated the past 6 years. The first shippy scene has them spooning in bed. Throughout the entire first part of the movie, their conversations are light and comfortable, including the one that takes place in Mulder’s office when he still has a beard.
- They talk about William.
- During the movie they break up over a disagreement concerning their future and in true Mulder and Scully style, they create some pretty impressive angst.
- The second to last scene of the movie is the one that got leaked by Flynet -with Mulder and Scully kissing. It starts out as a goodbye scene, but they literally ‘kiss and make up’. Chris Carter (though my money’s on Frank) does indeed like happy endings.
- The real ‘happy ending’ doesn’t occur until almost after the credits (so be sure to remain seated!), but it’s too bizarre to even describe it, so you will just have to wait and see.
- The plot is a little incomprehensible and not really interesting. It’s not scary either, but YMMV. I got the impression that at that times it was so hard to figure out what was going on that it took away from all the scariness.
- All in all, the movie is very shipper heavy and plot light.
The original source of the spoilers is here, but it requires you to sign up to read it, so screw that nonsense.
So anyways, if the above is true, then we’ll be seeing even more of the below. I call bullshit on this.

The original source should NEVER have been posted because it was taken completely out of context. Also, I don’t know if you were watching the same series as I was but you do know they ended up together in the season finale, right? That the very last shot of them is in bed together?
Why exactly would them being together for the last 6 years ”reek of fake”? If anything, it’s faithful to the original narrative.
Also by all accounts of a recent screening, the movie is amazing. There’s an incredible plot and it’s gripping right up until AFTER the credits.
As the saying goes, ”Trust NO ONE”….

Seriously, have you even SEEN the trailers? Either the trailers are bullshit or this is bullshit. Either way, there’s bullshit somewhere.

Dear Nix,
I have seen every trailer and picture out there. I’ve also read the full version of the spoilers.
Unlike you, I see nothing contradictory.
I’d really enjoy it if you could flush out your “bullshit” hypothesis more clearly.

Is anyone really surprised by these spoilers? I mean, I sorta figured out about 80% of them.
1. Kinda thought M&S would be together in some fashion….. They were together in the finale!
2. Carter and Spotnitz said themselves in interviews that this movie focuses on their relationship and where they are 6 years from now. ANd that it is NOT like the series where they are chasing aliens.
I dont see anything “spoiled” in what I read here. I am still psyched to see the movie and dont believe anything I read was something I didn’t already feel like I knew would happen. I am really curious to see what happens after the credits though!

The post-credits scene (which lasted all of 10 seconds or so) was Mulder and Scully on their honeymoon. It was the all time nod to the fans known as ’shippers.’ It’s just the two of them in a boat in bathing suits in the tropics just as most folks do when they are newlywed. The End.

Johnny– How do you know they were on their honeymoon? I didn’t even think about that!! Hmmmm something to think about? Was there something I missed that led us to believe they were married in some fashion?
Thanks for the insite!
