Wyle is Confirmed for Spielberg’s TNT Alien Invasion Show
Sci-Fi TV News, Untitled Spielberg Alien Invasion TV Series — By Nix on June 25, 2009 |
It was reported earlier this month that former ER doc Noah Wyle was this close to signing on to star in a new TNT sci-fi show about the aftermath of an alien invasion that will be produced by Steven Spielberg, who knows a thing or two about aliens, I’m told. Now it’s official: Wyle has indeed signed on to front the new TV show, which is still untitled as of this article.
According to THR, Wyle will play the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers and civilians who struggle against an alien force that has invaded Earth and wiped out most of the human population. It’s now post-invasion time, and Wyle must lead the fight back against the E.T. occupation force.
The show is written by Robert Rodat, who conceived of it with Spielberg. The duo have worked together before, in 1998’s “Saving Private Ryan”, which Rodat wrote and Spielberg directed. Spielberg’s company was also behind star Noah Wyle’s other TV show, a little thing called ER. I heard it was kind of popular, that one.
And if you don’t think Wyle can do action, check him out in “The Librarian” TV movies. Granted, he played a goofy, more-lucky-than-good action hero in those, but he’s taken his lumps in the genre, so he shouldn’t have too much trouble here.
Below: Sure, they’re cute now, but wait until they pull out the ray guns.
