It's an inherent problem with actors -- grownups acting is really kind of silly. If an actor realizes that, it takes his heart out of the work. Thereafter, it's just scrounging for paycheck jobs. Shatner's work after the 1st season of the original Star Trek series has been progressively more and more self-parody. Look at any of his recent interviews and you'll see he's just embarrassed to be there (but it's a paycheck). Too bad. He’s lost his edge.
