William Gibson’s Neuromancer Cast News

William Gibson is a Sci-Fi stud. He’s great. There, I got that off my chest. He has had some terrible luck with movie adaptations of his work. Johnny Mnemonic was troublesome to say the least. He has had his great novel “Neuromancer” in development since the dawn of time and so far,  people have been chickening out of making it.

Now however, we seem to have a cast. Liv Tyler is the latest to join Hayden Christiansen in the Joseph Kahn directed story of an Artificial Intelligence that yearns to be free and of the cyber jockey that is paid to free it.

Can’t say much for the cast. This story deserves better. Can you reboot a movie before the original is released? Thanks QuietEarth for the news.

Case needs to be rough and chiseled. What the hell is Anikin playing him for. Well at least Liv might be in it. Her beauty out weighs all negative outlooks for this movie… At least I can read the book again

Neuromancer definitely deserves better. We fans have had to endure for this many years, and watch potential projects like the Chris Cunningham effort dissipate–we do not want to see Hayden and Liv as Case and Molly. This is a book that truly needs to be done right when being made into a movie. If it falls along the lines of Transformers, it will be a huge disappointment. Why couldn’t the District 9 production team be handling this movie?

Thinking about Haydn as he transformed into Darth Vader in Episode III, and the consequential brooding darkness that he portrayed, I can see him as case, a burnt out and troubled druggie trying to make a comeback. I think you’re getting too caught up in his golden-boy appearance from Jumper, but in Life as a House with Kevin Kline, he actually did play a troubled junkie (with hints of male prostitution to boot). I look forward to this development because I think with the proper direction, it could be quite good. Or we could get John Leguizamo.
