What Is … The Prototype? Well, It’s Pretty Damn Cool, Whatever It Is.

The Prototype (2013) Movie Image

“The Prototype” may look like an elaborate cinematic scene in a new groovy sci-fi videogame, but it’s actually a $40 million dollar sci-fi action film from writer/director Andrew Will, who along with the Bandito Brothers (the not-really-brothers guys behind “Act of Valor”), has shot the movie and is now selling it to studios, similar to how the Bandito Brothers did with their Navy SEALs movie.

There is no official plot synopsis for “The Prototype”, but I think you can take a gander at the 3-plus minute teaser trailer (more like a ass-whuppin promo sizzle reel, if you ask me) and figure it out. Basically, a scientist invents a cool military machine of some sort, somehow ends up “wearing” it, bad guys try to kill him, cops try to arrest him, and very cool action stuff happens.

The only recognizable face in the cast to me is Neal McDonough of “Band of Brothers” fame. Everyone else is somewhat a mystery, as is the film itself. No longer, though. Once this teaser hits, expect more info on “The Prototype” to start coming out.

Look for it in 2013.

This looks a bit like the graphic novel “The Coffin” by Phil Hester. The robot in this movie looks very similar to the suit in the comic, and the basic premise seems the same. I’d bet there was some influence there.
