Warner Digs Ditches on Jupiter’s Moon

At first glance, the idea behind the new sci-fi movie “The Ditch”, which Warner Bros. just bought, sounds a lot like “Fortress II” (or hey, even the first “Fortress”) with Christopher Lambert — a sci-fi movie about a sci-fi prison that someone has to break out of or die trying. This time around, the good guy isn’t a wrongly imprisoned con, but a guard who is forced to help a terrorist escape the prison or die trying.

Variety has more on “The Ditch”:

Set in the future, a super maximum-security prison has been constructed on Jupiter’s moon where Earth’s worst criminals are incarcerated. When a prison guard’s family is taken hostage, he is coerced into helping the facility’s most notorious terrorist, a man who was scheduled to be executed that day, escape.

The screenplay was a spec script by Sascha Penn, a music video producer and documentarian.

Matt Berenson and Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner and Robyn Meisinger will produce the film for Warner Bros.
