Battlestar Galactica chief Ron Moore’s new sci-fi show on FOX, the space-faring Virtuality has added five more actors to its cast, which already includes James D’Arcy, Kerry Bishe and Jimmi Simpson. The biggest name in the bunch to genre fans will be Sienna Guillory (pictured, left), while the other four names include Joy Bryant, Nelson Lee, Omar Metwally and Ritchie Coster. Sienna Guillory played Jill Valentine in “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” and more recently, was the female lead in “Eragon”.
SyFyPortal has more:
Bryant, who had a bit role in the 2004 film “Spider-Man 2″ but has been very active in non-genre projects including “Bobby” in 2006, will place Alice Thibadeau. Guillory — who played Jill Valentine in 2004’s “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” and Arya in the 2006 film “Eragon” — will play a character named Rika Goddard. Lee, who played Shen in the short lived television program “Blade: The Series,” will bring to life the character of Keni Yamaguchi.
Metwally will make his genre debut as Dr. Eyal Meyer. He previously played in films like 2005’s “Munich” and 2007’s Rendition, according to Internet Movie Database. Coster, known for his role as Joey Sadano from “American Gangster” last year and for the upcoming “The Dark Knight” as Chechen, will take on the role of Jimmy Johnson.
The plot of the TV series has a starship called the Phaeton and its 12-member crew on a 10-year mission into deep space. Their only entertainment is virtual reality (hence the title), which ends up being their worst enemy when it goes haywire.
The 2-hour pilot for FOX is considered a backdoor pilot — if it does well, FOX will turn it into a series. If not, it’ll just be a 2-hour stand-alone movie.
