Well, it’s a done deal. Our man Vin Diesel has been confirmed for a third “Chronicles of Riddick” flick. David Twohy, who wrote and directed both “Pitch Black” and “The Chronicles of Riddick”, will direct Mr. Diesel again from a screenplay he wrote.
We knew this was happening but the official confirmation from Universal (via Variety) will mean that it’s finally ramping up to get on film. For those unschooled in the ways of the Riddick, “Pitch Black” was a pants full of awesome Sci-Fi horror movie that told the tale of a pile of morally wayward castaways trying to survive really unique and nasty beasties on a planet your local travel agent wouldn’t sell you tickets to. The sequel was cool (“Chronicles”) but less nifty.
The third tale of Mr. Riddick will supposedly focus more on Vin and less on the universe he inhabitants. Here’s a fuzzy trailer for “Pitch Black” to help jog your memory or get you thirsty for more of the Riddick we love.
