Vin Diesel: Another Chronicles of Riddick Movie is “Underway”

Vin Diesel’s second Riddick game, “Assault on Dark Athena” gets released April 7, which means the man himself is doing the publicity rounds to sell it. It also means we’ll be hearing more about a possible “Chronicles of Riddick” movie, being that the game is so heavily tied into the movie franchise. According to Diesel himself, the third film in the series is very much “underway”, and one gets the feeling he’s prepared to make an official announcement sometime very soon.

Here’s Diesel’s response to a question about the “Chronicles of Riddick” sequel by Gamespot:

Maybe we’re too tight-lipped about the next Chronicles of Riddick film, and I think circa the release of [Dark Athena] that’s probably when you’ll start hearing more about the next Riddick film. It is underway and I almost think it’s a coincidence that we haven’t heard anything, that there hasn’t been a lot of public stuff on the Riddick movie.

So yeah, it definitely looks like another “Chronicles of Riddick” movie is coming our way very soon. As I said before, I hope they jettison the whole Underverse and Necromonger angle and just go back to the basics. I like Riddick the character, but I’m not so sure about giving him such a grand epic scope to ply his trade, but maybe that’s just me.
