V Gets Great Ratings In Debut
Sci-Fi TV News, V (New) TV Series — By endymi0n on November 4, 2009
Well, well. “V”, our next Sci-Fi obsession, did very well in the ratings last night. How about 14 million viewers? How does that grab you? It was the second highest rated debut this season behind NCIS: LA. I’m surprised frankly. Since I really liked the show, I’m surprised and happy. If the ratings hold reasonably well, look for more lizard on human and lizard on lizard action next year after the Olympics. Thanks EW!

Just been catching up on the re-runs of the original on sci-fi. Still Good, but the style of the time showed through occasionally.
Are you saying this is just a pilot and we really have to wait?….taps fingers
I'm glad it did well in the ratings. I think the show has great potential but they have a long way to go to match the original. Here's my comments about V on my blog: http://nickleshi.blogspot.com/2009/11/comparing...
If the first episode was anything to go by, this incarnation of V is going to be nothing short of lame.
I really liked the original, and this is nothing like it, nor is it an even slightly worthy ‘reimagining’ as was Galactica (until it jumped the shark..) I found the initial episode rushed, trying to cram the whole driving force of the original miniseries into 1 45 min story.
I know the original had longer episodes, but this was way too fast, going from arrival to resistance in 1 shot..
There was no time to get used to any of the characters before it is revealed that 2 of them are lizardy aliens.. Big deal, don’t care..
The writers should have used the first few episodes to build up some kind of viewer tension, hinted at the aliens maybe being bad, then gradually revealing more of the insidious plot.
As it is, when the episode finished, I had complete apathy..
As for the “V’s” references, oh god… If anyone had watched the original, V wasn’t a cute nickname for Visitors, it was for Victory..
