Ev is correct what we have is a bunch of little kids that don’t know how awesome Robotech was when it came out back in the 80′s. They did not experience watching it before going to elementary school every day and talking to their friends about how amazingly violent and cool it was. They did not experience going to a store to see the Robotech section of toys. They did not experience getting Robotech toys for Christmas. I hope they do not make this movie and trash the franchise like they did Transformers. Anti Robotech fans can go suck a big Zentradi dong!

all i see in these posts are hopeless fanboys defending their franchise of choice. I grew up with Robotech before I even knew ANYTHING about anime…it was my gateway drug! :) As an adult, I enjoy watching the original (subtitled of course!), and I enjoyed other Macross titles (Macross Plus, Macross II, Macross Frontier). I also read all of the Robotech Novels, specifically the Sentinels saga (which was great, btw!). After reading those novels, the new movie “Shadow Chronicles” gave me all kinds of goosebumps, because I was already familiar with what the back story of the movie was. I understand that most people who watched “Shadow Chronicles” did NOT read the books, and I can understand why they were confused or at the least non-plussed by the movie, but for any REAL fan of Robotech, the new movie was great! (although I was a bit dissapointed by the lackluster soundtrack!)

I am anxiously awaiting the live action movie, and I have high hopes…I just really really hope Tobey McGuire is not Rick Hunter!

Amen. I am an Old School Robotech fan. I watched it when it aired in the United States. *There was no Macross* available to the rest of the world outside of Japan at the time. At the time Robotech was great. Seeing the Macross version was great too. But many of still love Robotech. The Music for one thing is more Epic than the Japanese pop music version. All of these whining Macross purists are probably a bunch of kids who saw it long after us old timers saw Robotech.

Amen Rasputinreborn, I grew up watching Robotech as a kid. Had no idea there was another version called Macross until I was older. Both are great. But the music in the original Macross sucks. The music on the Robotech series fit the material much better. Who wants cheesy pop music on their flying Robot Epic? Give me a break. Get out of your mom’s house and chill out Macross snobs.

Wow, a lot of nerds raging. I’m very displeased, but than again I should probably just laugh. It’s just a movie based off an anime. Who cares if the show was based off three different shows. You people are acting like you’re two years old, Goddamnit.
