Didn’t like Ridley Scott’s “Prometheus”? Or at least, thought it had a lot of problems? Well you’re not alone, kids. Movie writer/director/star Tyler Perry didn’t like it, either. In fact, he didn’t like it so much, he’s writing his own sci-fi movie just to prove it.

Speaking to Blackfilm, the creator of the highly lucrative Madea franchise (as well as a dozen other projects on the big screen and TV) had this to say:

I love Sci Fi, I love the Alien movies and the Alien franchise. I was very disappointed with Prometheus, but I love that whole franchise. Those are my favorite movies. I’m actually working on a sci-fi movie right now.

When pressed for details:

No but I’m writing a sci-fi movie that I’m really excited about.

Tyler Perry writing, starring, and possibly directing a sci-fi movie? Hey, it can’t be anymore awkward than Tyler Perry starring as a tough Washington D.C. cop chasing a serial killer, right?

This actually wouldn’t be Perry’s first taste of big-budget sci-fi. As you’ll recall, he co-starred in J.J. Abrams’ first “Star Trek” movie. Well, he had a role, anyway. He was one of those guys in that room where they were crucifying Kirk, then later, was awarding him a medal or some such. I wonder if they shot those two scenes at the same time? Probably.
