Not only is this version of V terribly cliched, it turns the original themes completely on their head. Idolatry was not a big theme in the original; it was confusion, fear, and a desire for power that ultimately corrupted people. The scientific community was vilified for their skepticism and curiosity, and turned into “the Jew” for the people to lay their blame on.

What are the chances that any of these themes appear in the re-make? I'm betting it's a big fat zero. Instead, we've got some logically bereft wet-dream for the Glenn Beck and conspiracy theorist crowd. Like they need a crutch for their delusions…

The pilot was awful. Terrible and cliched writing, stiff acting by many of the actors, and one of the silliest premises of all time: Humans are not at fault for all of the ills in the world. Instead, its a bunch of aliens. Yes, this series seeks to absolve the human race for all wars, famines, economic disasters…you name it. All of the terrorists in the middle east are apparently aliens. Another ridiculous development is that almost every human in the world accepts the aliens immediately as their savior. Throughout history, humans have been xenophobic towards immigrants, but I guess everyone is down with real aliens.

It's too bad NBC decided not to pick up Kenneth Johnson's sequel to the original mini-series, instead.

Oh, the [spoiler alert] “starchild” [spoiler alert]! Please don't. Maybe the new guys can solve this theme in some interesting ways, but back to the 80-s 'alien baby' storyline was uber-cheesy. If the young gang come up with some new fresh ideas about it, I can tolerate when some day Lisa will be pregnant with Tyler's baby. Wow, another teenage pregnancy drama with very “perverted” alien taste. LOL.

Saw pilot at comic-con on Wed. night; it looks great. I remember only parts of the old V; and cant wait for the (spoiler alert) baby. Glad to have Elizabeth Mitchell in this show, she plays an FBI agent and I cant wait to see how she handles her son and her role in the ultra secret society. I also want to see more of how Scott Wolfs character handles Anna and how far he will go for his career. I am very intrigued and cant wait for the season to start. Sorry I didnt make it to the panel.
