We’ve all seen the “Tron Legacy” footage, but to be honest with you, no one really knows how the actual movie will turn out. It could be a visual feast for the eyes, filled with great action scenes and sfx, or it could be, well, “Aeon Flux”. In any case, with “Tron” still in the pipe, director Joseph Kosinski has already announced his next project — a sci-fi action movie called “Oblivion” (a piece of concept art from the film above and to your left).
THR describes the movie as such:
The story centers on a battle-damaged soldier who, assigned to a desolate planet after a court-martial, patrols the bleak landscape in an effort to destroy the last vestiges of a primitive alien race. When a mysterious traveler arrives unexpectedly, their lives become inextricably linked as they are forced to question everything they know about this world and themselves.
Kinda sounds a bit like James Cameron’s “Avatar”. In any case, “Oblivion” is an original idea by Kosinski, and he will now develop it for Radical Pictures. Kosinski calls it a “sparse” science fiction movie with “a small cast but big ideas and big landscapes”.
Meanwhile, Kosinki is currently neck-deep in post-production on the long-awaited “Tron: Legacy” movie, which is being scheduled for a 2010 holiday season release.
