Tom Welling Refuses to Let Smallville Die, Too

Seriously, who is Clark Kent going to be fighting next on Smallville, midgets from outer space? The show is already in its eight season, with a ninth season on the horizon, and word from Entertainment Weekly is that Tom Welling, the show’s star, is “close” to signing on for a ninth season, but the deal is still a work in progress. Translation: If they want him, they better pay him a hell of a lot of money per episode, because at this point is there really any reason to do another season of Smallville except to squeeze as much blood out of this stone as possible?

From EW:

Yes, there’s news, and it’s good. Some would even call it, ahem, super. According to a well-placed Smallville insider, Welling is nearing a deal to return for a ninth season. I’m told they’re just ironing out some minor deal points, such as should the Brinks Truck pull into the actor’s driveway, or just unload on the street.

What I said.

Anyways, a ninth year of Smallville. Now I’m not a regular watcher of the show or anything, but Tom Welling has GOT to be getting up there in years after nine years. He was already in his ’20s when the show started, so what’s he now, in his ’30s? I’m just saying. Time to put on the red cape and get on with it, guys.

Below: Superman may be immortal, but his castmates aren’t.

Season 8 has been the best season by far…so with the word out that there\’ll be a ninth season, and probably the last, I know it\’s going to be great as tom just keeps getting better looking and a better actor!!

I beg to differ. Smallville should have ended around season five or six. It’s sunk incredibly low in recent years. The moment it jumped the shark? When they introduced the Green Arrow. I’m suprised Ted McGinley didn’t play the character.

I would like anyone to tell me why they think season 8 was better than season 7? As soon as Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) left the show, it really went downhill in season 8. This is not to insult the new actors (Casidy Freeman) and some of the old actors were not very exciting either (Whitney Ford, Sam Jones III, etc). I really hope season 9 is worth watching especially as the final season.rnrnI’m interested in a proposed “Metropolis” show or movie. And it would be nice if we could at least have Lana and Lex in the “series finale” at the end of season 9.
