If you’ve been waiting with bated breath for Tom Cruise to sign on for “All You Need is Kill”, well, congrats, because he has.
Variety reports that the “Top Gun” star will be making “All You Need is Kill” his next film after he wraps “One Shot” and “Tron: Legacy” director Joseph Kosinski’s sci-fi epic “Oblivion” aka “Horizon”.
Obviously Cruise is much older than the character in the book, which means tweaking must be done to the existing script to accommodate the star’s age. I haven’t a clue how this will affect the book’s main foundation (a young, green kid who has no clue what he’s doing, learning to adapt and overcome his “Groundhog Day”-esque situation that he finds himself in), but hey, I’m not the one being paid big bucks to write this stuff, so more power to them.
Doug Liman of “The Bourne Identity” fame will direct the film. This, after there were rumors he had left the project to pursue other sci-fi ventures. He’s apparently back on board.
