The Plot of Christopher Nolan’s Inception Revealed (SPOILERS)
Inception (2010) Movie, Sci-Fi Movie News — By Nix on August 25, 2009
All we know about Nolan’s “Inception” is what we’ve been told — it’s “set in the architecture of the mind”. Well screw that, Warner Bros. You didn’t really think people would just accept such a lousy plot “description”, did you? And now someone has found out the truth about “Inception’s” plot. WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW.
A second warning: This plot description from the site InContention comes secondhand. The author admits as such, so if this turns out to be wrong, don’t blame me, or him, but blame the guy who told him. I would call BS on this, but a quick glance at my wall calendar assures me this isn’t April.
So what the hell is “Inception” really all about?
Apparently it’s about dreams. Entering people’s dreams and manipulating them. Leonardo DiCaprio’s character is a criminal type who does just that with a team that includes Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tom Hardy. It’s not like in “The Matrix” either, since the story isn’t futuristic. They apparently do it through … injections? Or something like that. So yeah, apparently DiCaprio isn’t “a CEO type” as we’ve been told. The film’s other two characters are Cillian Murphy as an actual CEO and Ken Watanabe as the film’s defacto villain. A lot of the film’s action takes place within the dream landscape, but the film itself is really more of a suspense thriller, and very little sci-fi-ish except for the whole “injecting yourself into someone’s dream” bit which, I suppose is one big whopper of a sci-fi element.
I won’t spoil the whole plot for you (if it turns out to be true, natch), as I’m assuming someone might stumble across this post by accident and didn’t catch my warning. The above, I think, isn’t too much of a spoiler, as it simply lays out the plot of the movie and doesn’t reveal any major details that could spoil the film completely for you. I’m assuming that the whole dream invasion plot will get revealed pretty quickly in the movie, since you can’t very well have a film about people invading dreams for nefarious purposes and not put it right out there at the beginning of the movie. Or can you?
