The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake is About Global Warming

You knew it had to happen, and in the back of you mind, you even suspected. Yes, it’s true, the upcoming remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still” will throw away the “end violence” message of the 1951 original, and instead exchange it with a “get green” message of today. I guess in a way I sort of knew this was going to happen. It’s Hollywood, after all, and “going green” is the cause du jour of the last few years. They’ll keep pumping the same message until something more sexy comes along.

More:

Fifty years later and Klaatu has a new message for humanity, but one with equally dire consequences should we choose to ignore it, Keanu Reeves, who is playing the alien in Scott Derrickson’s upcoming remake, told MTV News.

“The first one was borne out of the cold war and nuclear détente. Klaatu came and was saying cease and desist with your violence. If you can’t do it yourselves we’re going to do it. That was the film of that day,” Reeves explained. “The version I was just working on, instead of being man against man, it’s more about man against nature. My Klaatu says that if the Earth dies, you die. If you die, the earth survives. I’m a friend to the earth.”

While humanity still engages in a staggering number of international conflicts, the environmental message is one that, not only encompasses wars, and fights, and terrorism, but one that goes beyond constrictions to become a millennial message of “what we are doing and who we are as a species,” Reeves insisted. “We’re trying to reach beyond the idea of [just] environmentalism.”

What’s next, change Gort to a cuddly CGI Amazon Rain Forest monkey?

The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake is About Global Warming

pretty sad to see all this negativism and none have even seen the remake.

I can say that this story has been played before, countless times through our history. How many wars and conflicts in history have been intervened by a third party? The ’51 movie was a modern extension to what has happened in our past histories. China is an excellent example of a country brought together partially in this manner in its early formation. Cease and desist your conflict, it is interfering with our trade. Failure will bring our might upon you.

How many Shakespearean tales have been remade? Allen Poe? Most Sci-fi series, especially the Trek ones, have covered such stories and then some, ad nauseum. There are many stories I have noticed being blended into every sci-fi out there, the idea taken from another series and adapted to fit the new series. How many times must HG Wells stories be made over for crying out loud?

Some sucked. I’ll grant you that. But some also shined, simply because the writers made the story fit well to the current social mood of the time.

This isn’t any different with the remake of “The Day”. I can guarantee you that someone will remake Godzilla, and King Kong.

And on that note, some remakes like Battlestar Galactica are incredibly well written, acted and presented. I grew up with the original and liked it, but I like the modern remake that much more.

Don’t cut it until you try it. Opinions of others is irrelevant until the cake is done.

Would have seen it if it was about ANYTHING but…environmentalism.

Global warming is a sincere threat to all life on this planet. But, since when did violence stop being a threat? Is war now passe? War and violence of all types are about conflicting egos. Have we grown up and become humble since 1951? Improved special effects won’t improve a weak message. The original message was the right one; it still is. We need that message repeated now more than ever. Violence and war must end if we are to survive. There must be security for all or no one is secure. Besides, the original effects were pretty good.

Most of you people are naive sheep. The earth has actually cooled for the past 8 years, and new data strongly correlates climactic changes to solar patterns. Quit drinking your liberal Algore kool-aid. The earth has been around for billions of years, while industrialized civilization has been around for a couple hundred. You seriously think we are changing the climate? Ha ha ha.

The global warming theme is both apropos and necessary in this age of worldwide destruction of the environment and the attendant global warming. Only an invincibly moronic intelligence (aka a right-winger in the oil business) could imagine that human-caused global warming isn’t very, very real–hard-core scientific data from the world over attests to this fact eloquently with mountains of black-and-white data.

I hope people will go to see this movie and perhaps learn something. They certainly didn’t from the message of the first version, since humanity continues to blindly erect the gallows which will hang us all.

FACTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: DEALING IN SPECULATION?
An excerpt from Is Man Caused Global Warming a Scientific Fact? offers up one dissenter’s ideas regarding the facts against global warming.

“.The key to separating scientific knowledge from belief is that science can be demonstrated. We may never have good enough error bands on the data about global temperature data; thus it is something that is just not knowable. Opinions on things unknowable are called beliefs. Because of the inapplicability of the scientific method when dealing with open systems, opinions on global warming are beliefs akin to a sort of religious view and not scientific fact.

.I failed to see even an estimate of the amount of error of natural emissions of CO2 in the documentation from the EPA. The science I know of means you figure the answer and then you do the hard part of calculating the minimum, maximum, and probable errors. It is not possible in this case to even have hard numbers on CO2 venting – thus we are again not looking at science, but only estimates and speculation. Attaching numbers to speculation does not elevate it to science.

.The much hyped report from the EPA was made by people who’s income depends on the continued belief of a CO2 caused warming trend.”
FACTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: QUESTIONING THE IMPACT OF PEOPLE
A few interesting facts against global warming are brought up in an article called Global Warming is a Hoax:

“Global warming is a hoax, invented in 1988, that combines old myths including limits to growth, sustainability, the population growth time bomb, the depletion of resources, pollution, anti-Americanism and anti-corporate sentiment and, of all things, fear of an ice age. Those that espoused and supported the old myths have joined forces into a new group called ‘Environmentalists.’

Most environmentalists have no technical or scientific credentials whatsoever. What they have are major news outlets ready and willing to publicize their every utterance regardless of whether or not they are backed up by scientific proof. Atmospheric science requires highly technical knowledge and skills, not possessed by the vast majority of the so-called environmentalists, who yet feel qualified to demand that human activity subjugate itself to the whims of their new deity, Mother Nature.

Environmentalists claim that the Earth’s atmosphere is getting hotter. They claim that the polar icecaps and glaciers will melt and sea levels will rise over two hundred feet, flooding most coastal cities. They claim that many areas of the Earth will turn into deserts. They make all these claims but cannot substantiate them with real scientific evidence.

Parts of the polar icecap and glaciers are melting but other areas of the polar icecaps and glaciers are thickening. The environmentalists base their “proof” of the existence of global warming on the melting areas but are strangely silent, even militant to the point of violence, if anyone mentions the areas that are thickening, and those thickening areas are many.

In the past, there have been many times when the global mean temperatures were warmer, sometimes much warmer and colder, much colder than they are now. Global mean temperatures are cyclical with the seasons but also with other normal cycles, as they have been for the entire history of the Earth. Scientific data from ice cores, tree rings and other indicators of global mean temperatures prove this.

Human activity has never been the cause of these global temperature swings as the “global warming” advocates claim. If human activity was the cause, where were the SUVs, the power plants and industries in our historical past? They did not exist. If human activity was not the cause of these global temperature swings, what was?”
Interesting facts against global warming indeed.
FACTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: THE CABAL STEALS U.S. WEALTH
Another fascinating article regarding some facts against global warming is called There is no Global Warming, which discusses the Kyoto Protocol fraud:

“.only developed industrial nations will be bound by the treaty. Undeveloped Third-World nations will be free to produce whatever they want. the treaty is really about redistribution of the wealth. The wealth of the United States is and has always been the target. The new scheme to grab the loot is through environmental scare tactics.

If, today, you were to attend a UN session on the Climate Change Protocol you would find yourself in a discussion with excited delegates from Third-World countries. They would make comments to you like, ‘when the technology transfer takes place my country will begin producing this or that item.’

Translation – when the United States is stupid enough to fall for this scheme, the Third World will take up the slack and get rich. And international corporations, who owe allegiance to no nation, will bolt America and move their factories, lock, stock and computer chip, to those Third-World countries where they will be free to carry on production.

But that means the same emissions will be coming out of the jungles of South America instead of Chicago.

So where is the protection of the environment? You see it’s not about that – is it?

Still not convinced? One more thing. Hidden in the small print of the treaty is a provision that calls for the ‘harmonizing of patent laws’. Now, robbing a nation of its patent protection is an interesting tactic for protecting the environment, don’t you think?”
Now we’re dealing with some facts against global warming that touches on the true subject contributing to the world’s current problems: The criminal banking and industrial cabal.

This cabal that owns and controls the multinationals sees all that fertile Third World territory for more profit. Along the way, it can decimate America and all those “freedom-loving” and “free thinking” people who pose a threat to the cabal’s intent on ultimate One World Government control.

FACTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: THE BANKING LINK
We could go on and on listing more facts against global warming. The point is that the same elite ruining us through items such as the Kyoto Protocol is the one ruining us through the main problem: the banking scam.

Allowing these international bankers and industrialists to control our monetary system is at the very heart of current world problems. Our money and banking is the key to the New World Order. More education on this is available at Federal Reserve banking history and Money Creation.

Once you understand that the elite cabal funds its Global Community programs, such as hiding facts against global warming, through illegal taxation and fraudulent debt creation, you can begin to see that one solution is to go after that funding.

By blindly buying into federal taxes and a mountain of debt, Americans are unwittingly funding the elite and their totalitarian plans.

It doesn’t have to be this way. If the people are educated on the fraud, the fraud falls apart, and these bad effects of Globalization can be stopped.

We suggest you allow Aaron Russo to educate you on the fraudulent tax issue and take advantage of our debt elimination program.

FACTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: OUR SOLUTION TO TYRANNY
We’ve discovered the debt solution by becoming experts on legally eliminating your debt. This process will free you financially while reducing the amount of money available to the banking cabal. We must cut the cabal’s funding and for every dollar of debt you legally eliminate through us, you’re cutting $33 out of their pockets because of their fractional reserve banking scam.

You’ve learned a few facts against global warming. Now it’s time to join us and take the positive step toward removing the funding the elite cabal is using to enslave us. Talking isn’t enough anymore. Keeping your money out of the banksters’ coffers is real, positive action.

Facts disprove warnings about global warming

    by William Robert Johnston
    in The Brownsville Herald, April 4, 2001, p. A10

A long time ago kings and rulers might be advised by magicians, astrologers, and other charlatans. These mystics would prey on leaders–and through them, on entire societies–by using the false superstitious beliefs of all involved. These people mostly went away with the advent of science.

But they’re back–this time using the name of science. A vocal minority of the scientific community, with the help of unqualified outsiders, has persuaded many politicians to pursue plans that would be economically devastating. The story this time is global warming.

The “global warmers” produced the Kyoto treaty of 1997. However, the facts completely disprove what these people are saying about climate change.

We’ve all heard the stories, reported as indisputable fact: The last century or decade is just about the hottest the world has ever been. Carbon dioxide from burning gasoline and coal is blamed. Unless their solution is enacted right now, temperatures will rise terribly in the next century. Icecaps will start to melt, coasts will flood, storms will get worse, diseases will spread, animals will die, and more. And it’s all because of us Americans.

The best lies contain a measure of truth. Yes, carbon dioxide in the air has increased in the last century due to the use of fossil fuels. Yes, global average temperature has increased 0.8 degrees F in the same century. Unfortunately, the temperature increase came first: most of the temperature increase was before 1940, and most of the new carbon dioxide was added after 1960. Would you trust a “scientist” who said the result came before the cause?

There are other problems, as well. Solar activity may be the cause of the world temperature changes. The global warmers can’t explain why satellites show no temperature change in the past 20 years. The computer models that predict disaster in a century have been completely wrong for the past 20 years. And no one can agree on the side effects.

Scientific facts actually helped unravel the treaty last year. Carbon dioxide is removed from the air by various natural and manmade processes, and world leaders couldn’t agree on how to credit for this. No one wanted the U.S. to get credit for removals of carbon dioxide, so negotiations faltered.

Most scientists use facts and logic to reach conclusions. It’s no surprise that over 17,000 scientists and engineers have signed a petition calling for rejection of the Kyoto treaty. This overshadows any collection of scientists that have endorsed the treaty.

The global warmers have failed to prove that man has caused a problem. This hasn’t stopped them from demanding we act, and act now.

The Kyoto Protocol called for the U.S. and other western nations to shoulder most of the limits on fossil fuel energy use. Developing countries suffer little or no restrictions.

Those countries are obviously enthusiastic. The economic powerhouses would have their hands tied, while would-be competitors like mainland China would not.

President Bush has sided with the scientific facts in recently declining to implement the Kyoto limits. After all, the treaty is so bad the Senate opposed it 95 to zero.

Bush and Congress must go further. They should refuse any regulation of carbon dioxide emissions whatsoever.

Consider the impact of the restrictions still promoted by some. The U.S. would have to put a 50 to 100 % tax on gasoline, heating fuels, and most electricity. Local farmers and landowners will face bureaucratic restrictions hindering the use of land. In south Texas, the result would just be massive inflation and unemployment. In the developing world, suffering economies would cause starvation and death. And for all this, the restrictions can’t be shown to make any difference to world climate.

The primary advocates of global warming remain the environmentalists. They propose a drastic solution to a non-existent problem–a solution which is, amazingly, the same political policy they have unsuccessfully sought to impose for decades. Many of their leaders oppose free markets and seek to limit human development, and global warming is currently the best means to these ends. If people are hurt in the process, so be it.

The current power supply problems in California are a perfect example. They are not a consequence of true deregulation, but of environmental and anti-free market restrictions on power production. This is the same thing proposed in Kyoto, and the same thing still promoted by some Washington leaders.

As you watch your gas and electricity bills go up, recognize this as only a taste of what could have been under Kyoto–and what could still be, if environmental politics and big government win out over free markets and scientific facts.

from the extensive knowlege I have on radio and electromagnetic physics, much of what the cause for the problem is blamed on us is hogwash to me. The fellow with the long diatribe before me covers a lot of flotsam against that idea, some of it valid. As it is right now, market corrections are invalidating some points.

I prefer to look at causality from the macro point of view, that is, what stellar influences have upon our atmosphere. I know how the sun affects our ionosphere for radio transmission. I also know that the influence of that sun causes convection currents in our atmosphere, much like it does in our oceans. I know this same influence is reflected from the moon, as well as tidal influences that further mix things up, not only in the oceans, but the tectonic plates as well. I know our atmosphere is bombarded with all sorts of radiation from outer space, some of it remnants of ancient supernovae and the like. This energy influences our magnetosphere in significant ways, much like the sun does. I know this comes in a cyclical manner as our planet rotates on axis and orbit about the sun. I know that other planetary bodies in our solar system can also influence this. Add to that the solar spot cycles, all at varying times from 11 hour cycles to 11 day cycles on up to 11 year cycles, which all conjunct at regular intervals to show peak events, which also conjunct with the intervals of the moon and other planets in our solar system. Cosmic radiation mixes up the pot to make it all interesting.

What am I saying here? Simply that global warming is cyclical in nature, it has been much much warmer in the past, and much much colder as well…and the intervals for each are many and varied. The ice we have today is not the same ice that was around 65 million years ago. Come to think of it, even 10 million if memory serves me right. What happened in the past with regard to climate change will continue to follow that cycle, and the efforts we make are well…futile. These past 3 winters locally have been progressively colder and more snow than the previous 10, of which were well within normal for this area. News tells me it is pretty cold north of 60.

Besides, 25 years ago, the hype was all about global cooling. Who to believe?

And lets not forget this one simple fact. Meteorologists can barely predict several weeks in advance, aside from following trend models. How are we to know right now how warm or cold it will be in 50 years? We don’t. It is all guess work on theoretical model constructs, many of which do not contain EVERY variable influence, like the ones I mentioned above, along with all that other data and then some.

The unfortunate thing about global warming, is that way too many sciences can be used to make an argument about one or another point, but not all of them converge to give any solid conclusion. Speculation isn’t good enough for me. Chicken little is not how one would describe me on the subject, nor would I support lunacy in the fruitless persuit of reductions to that inalienable foe called man made co2.

And yes, I am sick of my energy costs going up because of chicken littles in our society.

What an absolutely pathetic attempt at a remake of a classic film that has stood the test of time. I am over 60 and view the original once every year or so. The classic has imbedded so many meaningful messages. The remake lacks all of those messages except for the fact that we are ruining the planet. Watch the classic …. then you decide which is best!
