But don’t get too happy yet, “Torchwood” fans opposed to the idea, because although both sides (Fox and the BBC) have agreed not to further pursue a joint venture with one another, the BBC reiterates that the idea for a U.S. version of “Torchwood” is still very much alive.
Here’s a statement from the BBC to that effect:
“BBC Worldwide Productions and the FOX Broadcasting Company have mutually agreed not to progress together with a 13-episode serialized ‘Torchwood’ format. We are currently in discussion with several interested networks.”
So if not at Fox, then where? The SyFy Channel, perhaps? That would seem like the most appropriate place for the show, and it’s actually a much better home. Unlike network TV, which demands instant gratification in terms of ratings, cable channels like SyFy can afford to wait for shows to take off.
