That Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV Show? D.O.A.

Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV Series

When I posted that WonderCon trailer for “Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome”, I was pretty surprise to see the show finally make it to air, since I didn’t think the Syfy Channel was still in the business of making “BSG” shows, what with the wrasslin’ and the ghost huntin’ and other nonsense they seem more preoccupied with nowadays. Turns out, I needn’t have wondered.

The Syfy Channel has already decided, even before “Blood and Chrome” has aired its 2-hour pilot, not to order the show to series. Instead, they’ll try to turn it into some wanky danky “digital series”, i.e. a series of webisodes, which are, let’s face it, never worth the bytes it took you to stream them.

Here’s Syfy’s official take on why they’re dropping out of the BSG business:

We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date,” Syfy president Mark Stern said in a statement, adding that “our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned.”

It hasn’t? Coulda fooled me.

Sorry, BSG fans.

But hey, at least you get this really cool “Blood and Chrome” trailer edited to that song from David Fincher’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. That’s kinda cool, right?

Seriously these guys need to stop smoking pot! There may/will be another Scifi king born one day but I really do think now that it definitely WON’T come from the SyFy mob. Especially while they make such lame anti-scifi moves… Wrestling?? Come on guys surely there are other Scifi centric ways to make revenue. Hey I know make cinema quality movies and release them in the cinema and grammy quality series and SUPPORT them other networks/countries will lap it up. Gee what a novel idea!!!

SyFy is not a science fiction station anymore, what with all that reality crap their putting on it. Sure they do have some original shows, Alphas, Warehouse 13, Being Human (which is actually UK, not their idea). It’s time for SyFy to get back to making Scifi stuff or change their name to Reality TV. You are right, if they make quality series other counties will buy it. Nevertheless, it looks like all we’ll see from the next Battlestar is the pilot and the new movie for the theaters. It’s too bad.

Starve the beast. Let’s just walk away from Sci Fi and the few good shows it has left and just let it die. I don’t even have it in my channel lineup anymore. I’m sticking with the BBC and HBO by and large. I’ll miss Eureka and WH 13 but I’ll always have the DVDs at the end of each season. Truth is the sooner we can kiII Sci Fi the better off genre TV will be. Just walk away…just walk away…

Nobody’s watching science fiction anymore. Viewers would rather watch Snooki Kardashian sing in a haunted house that’s piled high with empty mayonnaise jars and Snickers wrappers. Oh yeah, and wrestling.
