That Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome TV Show? D.O.A.
Nix March 22, 2012When I posted that WonderCon trailer for “Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome”, I was pretty surprise to see the show finally make it to air, since I didn’t think the Syfy Channel was still in the business of making “BSG” shows, what with the wrasslin’ and the ghost huntin’ and other nonsense they seem more preoccupied with nowadays. Turns out, I needn’t have wondered.
The Syfy Channel has already decided, even before “Blood and Chrome” has aired its 2-hour pilot, not to order the show to series. Instead, they’ll try to turn it into some wanky danky “digital series”, i.e. a series of webisodes, which are, let’s face it, never worth the bytes it took you to stream them.
Here’s Syfy’s official take on why they’re dropping out of the BSG business:
We are actively pursuing it as was originally intended: a groundbreaking digital series that will launch to audiences beyond the scope of a television screen. The 90-minute pilot movie will air on Syfy in its entirety at a future date,” Syfy president Mark Stern said in a statement, adding that “our enthusiasm for this ambitious project has not waned.”
It hasn’t? Coulda fooled me.
Sorry, BSG fans.
But hey, at least you get this really cool “Blood and Chrome” trailer edited to that song from David Fincher’s “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. That’s kinda cool, right?
