Teaser Trailer for Vin Diesel’s Babylon A.D.

The first official teaser trailer for Vin Diesel’s sci-fi actioner “Babylon A.D.” has finally arrived online, with an introduction by director Mathieu Kassovitz to boot. The film stars Vin Diesel as Toorop, and is based on the novel by Maurice G. Dantec. It’s the kind of role that Vin Diesel was born to play — the laconic loner badass who will take your crap just long enough to shove your head up your ass. Very cool looking trailer, even if you don’t know French. You don’t have to know French to realize this thing has real potential.

Veteran-turned-mercenary Thoorop takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Little does he know that she is host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest in order to produce a genetically modified Messiah.

Starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Yeoh, Mélanie Thierry, Gérard Depardieu, Charlotte Rampling, Lambert Wilson, Mark Strong, Jérôme Le Banner, Chris Astoyan, Radek Bruna, and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz.

The film is scheduled for an August 29, 2008 release in the States.
