Wow, I can’t believe I actually have something in common with Steven Spielberg: We’re both a huge fan of the 1995 anime movie “Ghost in the Shell”. Okay, so maybe that’s a stretch, but what’s not a stretch is that Spielberg liked the movie enough that he personally pursued the movie rights to the film, and has gotten it for Dreamworks to produce as a live-action 3D feature length movie. Yes, that’s right, folks — “Ghost in the Shell” is coming to a movie screen near you, with real people!
More:
Story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.
Created by Masamune Shirow, “Ghost in the Shell” was first published in 1989. It went on to generate two additional manga editions, three anime film adaptations, an anime TV series and three videogames. The second anime film, “Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence,” was released in the [...]

No, it’s not the trailer for “Clone Wars” that you’ve seen before. This one is for the newly announced “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie that is designed to bridge the gap between parts 2 and 3, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”. Because, you know, there were a lot of unanswered questions that apparently George Lucas thinks you Star Wars nuts will desperately want to find out and all that good stuff.
We don’t have the trailer, because frankly, George Lucas’ stormtroopers would just show up and demand we remove it or they’ll sue us and steal my cat, so I’m just going to link you to a couple of sites that currently are hosting it, though for how long, I’m not guaranteeing.
You can see the trailer here and here. Hurry before they’re gone, kids!
“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” arrives in theaters whenever George Lucas decides you can see it. You’ll accept it and you’ll like [...]

Those damn alien invaders. Every time we beat them back, they keep giving that whole Earth invasion thing another try! This time the battleground is Los Angeles, where the sci-fi action movie “Battle: Los Angeles” will take place for Columbia Pictures. The film will follow a squad of Marines as they battle aliens on the streets of Los Angeles following an alien invasion. Wow. Now is that a great premise or is that a great premise? Maybe like a cross between “Black Hawk Down” and “Halo”, maybe? One can only hope.
More:
Columbia has preemptively picked up “Battle: Los Angeles,” a sci-fi spec from scribe Chris Bertolini, for Neal Moritz to produce via his Original Films banner.
The story follows one Marine platoon’s encounter in the battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles.
“I love the idea, and I love the script. I like it all,” Moritz said. “We are going to be in production within six months. What’s attractive [...]

In recent years, Marvel has been giving DC a run for their money on the big screen. Besides a couple of exceptions, most notably the “Batman” franchise, Marvel’s comic book-to-movies have overwhelmed their DC rivals by a healthy margin. But that isn’t the case on the small screen, where DC still dominates. But what about on DVD? That is where the new battleground is between the two companies.
A few years ago, Marvel created a line of direct-to-DVD movies from their more famous properties, achieving success with the “Ultimate Avengers” line, an Iron Man movie, and more recently, a Doctor Strange movie. DC’s answer to Marvel’s DVD line was last year’s “Superman/Doomsday”, and this year’s “Justice League: The New Frontier”, a direct-to-DVD animated movie that chronicles the early team-up between DC’s mightiest heroes — i.e. the formation of the Justice League.
“Justice League” opens in 1953, with Lois Lane (Kyra Sedgwick) announcing the end of the Korean War. (”Justice League” is set [...]
