Wow, I can’t believe I actually have something in common with Steven Spielberg: We’re both a huge fan of the 1995 anime movie “Ghost in the Shell”. Okay, so maybe that’s a stretch, but what’s not a stretch is that Spielberg liked the movie enough that he personally pursued the movie rights to the film, and has gotten it for Dreamworks to produce as a live-action 3D feature length movie. Yes, that’s right, folks — “Ghost in the Shell” is coming to a movie screen near you, with real people!

Movie Trailer: Star Wars – The Clone Wars
No, it’s not the trailer for “Clone Wars” that you’ve seen before. This one is for the newly announced “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” movie that is designed to bridge the gap between parts 2 and 3, “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith”. Because, you know, there were a lot of unanswered questions that apparently George Lucas thinks you Star Wars nuts will desperately want to find out and all that good stuff.
Ready for the Battle of Los Angeles?
Those damn alien invaders. Every time we beat them back, they keep giving that whole Earth invasion thing another try! This time the battleground is Los Angeles, where the sci-fi action movie “Battle: Los Angeles” will take place for Columbia Pictures. The film will follow a squad of Marines as they battle aliens on the streets of Los Angeles following an alien invasion. Wow. Now is that a great premise or is that a great premise? Maybe like a cross between “Black Hawk Down” and “Halo”, maybe? One can only hope.

In recent years, Marvel has been giving DC a run for their money on the big screen. Besides a couple of exceptions, most notably the “Batman” franchise, Marvel’s comic book-to-movies have overwhelmed their DC rivals by a healthy margin. But that isn’t the case on the small screen, where DC still dominates. But what about on DVD? That is where the new battleground is between the two companies.
