SyFy Renews Haven for Season 2

The SyFy Channel have renewed a couple of shows in recent days, including “Warehouse 13″ for a Season 3, and like that show, I fully expected them to renew “Haven” for a Season 2, and they have.

Press release:

New York, NY – October 7, 2010 – Haven, Syfy’s original series from leading independent producer Entertainment One (eOne), has been renewed for season two. The 13-episode season will commence production on location in Nova Scotia in Spring 2011 with an eye towards a Summer 2011 premiere.

Haven, starring Emily Rose, is based on The Colorado Kid from renowned author Stephen King. The series follows FBI agent Audrey Parker (Rose), who takes up residence in the small town of Haven, Maine and soon discovers the town’s many secrets. A longtime refuge for people with an eclectic range of supernatural abilities, Haven also holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of Audrey’s lost past. Among the townspeople are local cop Nathan Wuornos (Lucas Bryant) and the mysterious and charming Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour).

The creative team behind Haven includes showrunner Scott Shepherd (Tru Calling, The Dead Zone) as well as his partners, executive producers Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller (The Dead Zone, Wildfire, Greek) who are joined by eOne’s John Morayniss (Hung, Rookie Blue) Noreen Halpern (Hung, Rookie Blue) and Laszlo Barna (The Bridge, Call Me Fitz). The pilot was written by Sam Ernst & Jim Dunn (The Dead Zone) who also serve as executive producers on the series.

Haven is produced by Entertainment One in association with Piller, Segan and Shepherd and was the first property to be produced for Syfy globally: in the US with Syfy and globally through Universal Networks International (UNI), and Canwest in Canada. Haven premiered on Syfy in the US on July 9, 2010 and will conclude its first season this Friday, October 8 @ 10pm. It debuted on Canwest specialty channel Showcase in Canada on July 12, 2010 and has its global first run pay-TV window on UNI (excluding Canada and Scandinavia). Universal Networks International will continue its global launch of Haven during October, rolling out Season One on Syfy Universal’s 19 global channels throughout the month.

Entertainment One controls the worldwide distribution rights to the one-hour series and concluded a deal with Germany’s Tele München Group (TMG) for the free television rights in Continental Europe.

Since debuting this summer on Syfy, Haven has scored a 1.9 Household rating and 2.6 million total viewers, including over 1.2 million Adults 25-54 and 989,000 Adults 18-49. These numbers are double the timeslot average from 3Q09 (+100% in HH rating, +111% in P2+). In addition, Haven held 82% of the viewers from its Eureka lead-in. (Note: all ratings data reflects final averaged Live + 7 DVR data for episodes that aired through 9/19/2010.)

In Canada, Haven ranks as one of the top five series for Showcase in Adults 25-54.

I tell ya, it’s all about the spunky FBI agent.

Maine has to be the scariest state in the country. Stayed at a B&B there once and woke up feeling like there were ghosts in the room. Glad the network wasn’t scared to renew the show. Can’t get enough of Emily Rose who is “cheek-pinching cute” and as cuddly as a Golden Retriever puppy. The whole cast wears well and Eric Balfour has got to be the most alarming looking heart throb to grace a tv screen. Looking forward to a new season of the “Troubles”.

maine seems nice but cool thing is the location is not far from me here in Nova Scotia canada

      • Cahaughn

That’s right! It’s filmed on the South Shore of Nova Scotia – in the communities of Chester, Lunenburg, Hubbards, Mahone Bay and others – all just a half and hour to an hour outside metro Halifax.

Maine is only scary b/c 9/10 Stephen King stories are based there.

Agreed on Emily Rose…she is cute as a button.

I just watched the final episode of season 1. I don’t think I realized just how hooked I was. (Thank you DVR!) The last 45 seconds or so got me off the couch and to my feet mumbling obscenities about how “they” could do this to me. (Throw that twist and leave me hanging as “they” did.) Excellent show!

I LOVE this show and I can`t wait for its return.

Love this show and LOVE Emily Rose. She is very cute

I started watching this show without any real expectations that I would like it. Was a little apprehensive due to King’s past tries with TV shows. I saw the original Kingdom Hospital (Danish TV Series) and then saw the Stephen King remake. Was totally disappointed, the US version was silly and totally strange for all the wrong reasons. Anyway, I started watching Haven without any true expectations. I was hooked by the end of episode 1! I am extremely glad they are renewing the show for season 2. Cast has great chemistry and I must say, Nathan is a total hottie!!!

      I couldn’t agree more.(on all points)
I love Stephen King. Always have. Then I say Kingdom Hospital. I honestly tried to like it, but could not find even one redeming quality about any aspect of the show. Because of this I held out very little hope for Haven. When Emily Rose (Audrey) said, “What am I gonna do, pull out another gun?” It was all over for me. I need a touch of humor with my drama.
      Oh, about Nathan, TOTAL hottie!!!
I am more than a little thrilled about the 2nd season. Between now and then, thank goodness for DVR

  • Masum_a4

I love this show. But i dont like the darkness of the video. Sometimes the scenes are so dark that I cannot their faces. So I would request the creator not to make it like this in the 2nd season.

    • Elizabeth_k123

maybe it’s just your TV. me and my friends TV work fine, nothing is dark, except when it’s supposed to be a dark scene.

  • DK248<3

By the preveiw of this show i was hooked. after the first episode i never missed one <3 this show is trule amazing and i cant wait until season 2! I dont even know how to begin to explain how excited i am for it :) the last episode had me absolutly entranced until the finale words were spoken. i hope season 2 comes fast XD

    • Elizabeth_k123

it comes spring 2011 :[, too long :P

  • Wendi

I’m so glad they are renewing. Its a great show and I enjoy it. I love the spunkiness of the characters and I like that they don’t just arrest the “bad guy”. I also love how they very slowly show you details, not giving everything away at once. You think the show is going in one direction and it always takes a left turn. Seeing the other Audrey agent show up total sent me for a flip. You can’t give us a cliff hanger like that and not explain. :P

  • Colin E

    To All,
Yes Maine is a good backdrop for Stephen Kings books, but Haven was filmed in Nova Scotia Canada…sorry Stephen

going there this spring maybe to see if I can get an extra spot

  • rochoc

Have to wait ’til summer???….bummer…..this household looks forward to Haven each week,,,,,,maybe rerun the old shows in the interim???

  • Dvlish_angel

As a local to where Haven was filmed, I must say the reason I originally watched it was to see what places and people I recognized.. Kind of gives it a special litle something extra : ).. Boy am I ever glad I did! Not usually much for sci-fi stuff but loved, loved, loved Haven and it drove me to distraction when it ended, especially not knowing if they were going to pick it up for a 2nd season.

Every week I tuned in on schedule just to be sure to see what happened next. Heart almost breaking if by chance it was not on for a week. The cast was definitely one that made it all come to life and worth watching. Not only were they awesone on screen, off screen they rocked too! (My fave is definbitely Eric Balfour.. he just made Haven a little more South Shore lol.

Super grateful to the powers that be for bringing the show back to us. Just wish it would come back way sooner!!!!!!
