Whedon fanboys have been clamoring for it ever since Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles got the axed and Joss Whedon announced that it was a possibility four months ago, and now it’s official: Summer Glau will indeed be joining the cast of Whedon’s Dollhouse.
According to THR’s Live Feed, Glau will be joining the show’s upcoming Season 2 as a recurring character named Bennett (her last name, I assume, as she doesn’t look like any “Bennett” I’ve ever seen, if you know what I mean), who is described as a Dollhouse employee who shares a secret past with Eliza Dushku’s Echo character. What are the chances that that “secret past” involves a lesbian love affair? Only in my fantasies, buckaroos. (And the thousands of Whedon fans out there, I presume.)
Other actors making appearances in the show’s second season include two Battlestar Galactica castaways, Jamie Bamber as a charismatic businessman who ends up as Echo’s husband (probably cause he paid for her services, I’m guessing), and Michael Hogan, who is said to be coming to the Dollhouse to “stop a psychotic family member’s killing spree”, whatever that means. I’m not “hip” enough into the Dollhouse scene to know if that’s a reference to a past episode or not, so you’ll have to figure it out. Keith Carradine from Dexter will also show up as a nemesis for Dollhouse frontwoman Adelle, played by Olivia Williams.
Another Whedon former player, Alexis Denisof from Angel (four-eyed Wesley himself) will be showing up as a Senator looking into the Dollhouse. See, it’s good to be a Whedon player — you’ll always have a job as long as he has one.
I’m still waiting for Charisma Carpenter to make an appearance, possibly as a woman who keeps insisting I date her. Oh, if only…
