Just got the DVD cover art and specs for the upcoming “Starship Troopers 3: Marauder” in the inbox today. Casper Van Dien reprises his heroic role as the fearless Johnny Rico in the third installment of the hugely popular global sci-fi adventure phenomenon. The swarming, killer bugs are back wreaking havoc on humanity in this awe-inducing action-packed adventure also starring Jolene Blalock (Star Trek: Enterprise), Amanda Donohoe, Boris Kodjoe, Marnette Patterson and Catherine Oxenberg. “Marauder” is written and directed by Ed Neumeier, who also wrote the previous two films in the series, and is “presented” by Paul Verhoeven. Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers) reprises his heroic role as the fearless “Johnny Rico” in STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER, the third installment in the hugely popular global sci-fi adventure phenomenon. The swarming, killer bugs are back wreaking havoc on humanity in this awe-inducing action-packed adventure also starring Jolene Blalock (“Star Trek: Enterprise” and “Stargate SG-1”), Amanda Donohoe (Lair of the White Worm), Boris Kodjoe (Madea’s Family Reunion), Marnette Patterson (“Charmed”) and Catherine Oxenberg (“Dynasty” and “Watch Over Me”). Written and directed by Ed Neumeier (screenwriter and co-producer of Starship Troopers and RoboCop, in his directorial debut), STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER will be available August 5, 2008 for the SRP of $38.96 (Blu-ray™), $27.96 (DVD) and $24.94 (PSP™).

The Blu-ray™ High Def and DVD come armed with bug crushing bonus features, including the featurettes “Evolution: The Bugs of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder” and “Enlist: Marauder’s Mobile Infantry”, a Filmmaker Commentary and a Director & Cast Commentary, and an all-new extended version of the music video, “It’s a Good Day to Die.” Exclusive to the Blu-ray™ High Def is BD-Live interactive feature “Put Yourself in the Film: Join the Fight!” allowing users to upload a photo, become a trooper and insert themselves into key scenes in the film as well as the “Marauder Mode – Picture in Picture” feature, which, through graphics, text and pop up video, provides unique insight into the film’s characters and story while expanding on the general mythology of the Starship Troopers universe. The DVD version includes a Bonus Digital Copy of the film that consumers can unlock and play on their PC and/or PSP® (Playstation Portable) System.

The original ‘Starship Troopers’ on Blu-ray™ High Def will be available for the first time with all-new special features, including “FedNet Mode” Picture-in-Picture/Graphic-in-Picture with loads of extra content inside the sci-fi satire and beyond. Additionally, a “Recruitment Test” trivia challenge to test fans on their Troopers skills and BD-Live interactive feature “Put Yourself in the Film: Join the Fight!”

All three films in this franchise will be available for the first time on Blu-ray™ High Def in a BD Trilogy, as well as a DVD Trilogy, available on August 5.

Synopsis
STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER explodes with mind-blowing man-on-bug combat! Col. Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) is back to lead his team on a secret mission to rescue a small crew of troopers stranded on the remote planet of OM-1. Battling bugs, both new and old, the new “Marauder” advanced weapons technology may be their only hope against a treasonous element operating within the Federation itself. As Captain Lola Beck (Jolene Blalock) and the rest of the starship crew fight to survive in the harsh conditions, it begins to dawn on them that something on OM-1 is very, very wrong. This time the bugs have a secret weapon that could destroy humanity. Join the Mobile Infantry in this intergalactic action-packed adventure.

Paul Verhoeven presents STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER, written and directed by
Ed Neumeier and produced by David Lancaster (Bobby, Hollow Man 2). Special Effects by Academy Award® Winning Visual Effects Supervisor Robert Skotak (Terminator 2, Aliens, X2). The film has a run time of approximately 105 minutes. Rated R for violence, language and some nudity.
