Comments on: Stargate: Universe TV Series to be Set on a Ship

In response to WILMENS – didn’t say that there was anything wrong with ST Voyager or ST:DS9 – but they are old and tired now compared to the possibilities of this new Stargate Universe – the comparison I was trying to point out was that – this new Stargate Universe could easily become a cross to bear for the writers and the series producers if it is not made correctly – we really do not need a comparison (which might happen) between the two ST’s and Stargate – the Stargate series has infinitely more credibility and potential then Star Trek has now – the problem here is – the Star Trek ‘team’ have totally run out of ideas, as the newly announced ST film proves – yet another, going back to the start way of thinking – they tried that with Enterprise and it bombed – it was awful.

First, not much wrong w/ ST:VOY or ST:DS9! 2nd, i look forward 2 new series, but hope 2 c our fav crew from STG:ATL! I long 4 another Star Trek series though. I hope STG:UNV is as awesome as BSG!

Stargate Universe – WOW – This is GREAT news BUT – I am hoping this does not turn into a Star Trek Voyager – Deep Space Nine type of show. That would ruin the whole Stargate ethos for me – BRING BACK JACK as well

I am a fan of all the shows so far kinda wonder what happened to Docor Who and Eureka.
Also Have always been a fan of Tapping and the new series*nods* stay with it.

like many ppl have said b4, this is way to much like star trek voyager…. atlantis is still an amazing series and sgu sounds like it will get old very fast…. y not just us this idea for half a season of atlantis or a movie using sg1 and atlantis… and the nineth cheveron going to a ship???? that is just crazy think of something else… and cancelling atlantis, that is just sad :(

The Stargate franchise blazes forward into new territory with Stargate Universe, a brand new television series from the creators of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. The SCI FI Channel announced today that it has picked up the new series for 2009.

Casting calls have gone out for the third series’ main characters, and today the short character break-downs arrived at GateWorld.

Colonel Everett Young
40’s handsome, capable, former SG team leader. Like the Jack O’Neill of ten years ago, but Young’s edges have tended to sharpen over time. He requested permission to serve the remainder of his commission on Earth upon marrying his wife, Hailey, two years ago, but for now he’s temporary commander of a secret off world base. The loss of two members of his team several years ago has taught him never to take anything for granted, and be prepared for anything. He stays on top of his team so they stay alive. STAR NAMES ONLY. SERIES REGULAR;

This should be Kaven Smith!! They can always promote Major Lorne to Colonel, he sure deserves it and change the name from Colonel Everett Young to Colonel Lorne.

yea i mean totally cool(not gonna have origanal cast this new series is aimed at a “younger” age group) but bring it on as a new series not as a replacement for stargate atlantis.

I hope they bring in Jack O`neill clone into Stargate Universe,
as a character. I will miss watching stargate atlantis after it ends this season, but I believe it will make the show more interesting when Stargate Universe comes out. I am guessing it must be hard to be the producer and the creater of stargate, so I respect them, so keep on coming with stargate`s series.
