Stargate Universe is about to make it’s grand re-appearance on April 2nd. What will become of Dr. Rush? Will he be able to jumpstart that crashed alien scooter that was smack down in the sand and return to the Destiny to deliver some mad professor style retribution?
I would say the chances are excellent. If Rush gets back aboard Destiny but somehow simply resumes his previous duties despite being essentially murdered by Colonel Young, I will be one unhappy Sci-Fi blogger. Fear my wraith.
So it seems we are getting some tricklage of news regarding some new and alien cast members for what looks like season two. Will they sport ridged foreheads? I’m thinking those days are past. Instead, we get a return to the vicious and aggressive ways of the Lucian Alliance, who as you may remember, attacked the castaways of the Destiny and forced them to whip on through the Stargate in the first place. A script has leaked or was leaked and speaks of an alien named Ginn, who is apparently a science officer subjugated by the Lucians to scan stuff etc. Ginn hates the Lucians as do the “other” aliens who have somehow hidden aboard the Destiny. How did they get aboard the Destiny exactly? Did they pose as humans? Gee I hope they don’t look human. I see enough of those guys.
For the other new alien cast member we might have ourselves a real villain, although the description we have of him is pretty tame. The guy’s name is Simeon and it seems he isn’t aboard the Destiny but really wants to be. In the script scene he is seen as a tormentor of another person named Morrison (obviously not an alien) who won’t eat the food Simeon gives him unless Simeon eats it first. Simeon isn’t much for being pushed around and spends some time issuing threats of the “You don’t know who you’re dealing with bucko” variety.
For backstory on the Lucians, it seems like the Destiny is a really important cultural artifact and that control of the Destiny or what’s hidden inside it makes you able to “harness the power of the gods”.
The last episode of Stargate Universe before the break was a stunner and a happy pants load of Sci-Fi goodness. Rush is coming sinners and he better be bringing some righteous Scottish attitude with him. Aliens? We’ll get some and I hope they have some nice big pointy teeth to make the life of the castaways aboard the Destiny really, really freaking uncomfortable. Thanks io9 for the script details.
