Stargate: Universe Cast Photo And Show Synopsis

Sci-Fi TV News, Stargate: Universe TV Series — By endymi0n on March 21, 2009

carlyle-stargate-1With the cast that have signed on for “Stargate: Universe”, I am highly optimistic about the quality of the show. Robert Caryle isn’t going to appear in just anything. I get the feeling that Universe is going to go BattleStar in it’s direction and approach to quality.

While the other Stargate shows were fun, they were B movie level affairs. Battlestar was grade “A” FI and I’m betting the character driven stories in Universe are going to line up nicely with what made BattleStar great. I just hope that the effects and sets can compare with BG. Thanks Scifi

SGU follows a band of soldiers, scientists and civilians, who must fend for themselves as they are forced through a Stargate when their hidden base comes under attack. The desperate survivors emerge aboard an ancient ship, which is locked on an unknown course and unable to return to Earth. Faced with meeting the most basic needs of food, water and air, the group must unlock the secrets of the ship¹s Stargate to survive. The danger, adventure and hope they find on board the Destiny will reveal the heroes and villains among them.

Um, that’s kinda insulting talking about the other Stargate franchises as B grade affairs. SG-1 (well, not the last 2 seasons) was much better than BSG ever hoped to be.

this is bull their taking a great show and putting it with a D class show (bsg) i hate bsg and i will no longer watch stargate if it is even remotely like bsg in story line or plots

Come on, D-class show? BSG did what no other science fiction series has done, that I can recall, and that is to bring a definite sense of realism to science fiction. I from time to time watched SG shows, and was immediately turned off by the sometimes awful jokes and puns, predictable plots, and general tedium. Only when the revisited arcing storylines did the shows become interesting. I think the networks have all learned by now that arcing storylines are what draw fans and boost popularity (STNG: Borg, etc, etc).

It’s plain to see SG production lacked in comparison to BSG. Are you seriously refuting that?

Now this show, I admit, seems like a stretch. I don’t imagine they will be able to come up with original storylines after the first 10 episodes. What’s on the docket today? Today we will explore the WEST half of the ship! Oh goodie!

Denial all over, sad that someone would place BSG at a grade D when it really is a grade A show, no doubt about that. The SG shows are great as well. To be honest, grade B is a perfect place of the SG shows. With SGU, I expect an upgrade to grade A soon unless the next SG-1 season pulls out some big stops.
