Stargate: Atlantis Season 5 Promos

For those keeping track of the constantly rotating cast on the Sci Fi Channel’s Stargate: Atlantis show, these new batch of S:A Season 5 promos won’t come as too much of a surprise. The biggest SPOILER is that there is clearly one character missing from the cast promos, and if you’ve been following up on news in the Stargate Universe, you probably already have it figured out. But in case you haven’t yet, I won’t spoil it for you, and tell you not to click on to see the promos, because you will find out.

Great, now let’s look at the Stargate: Atlantis Season 5 cast promos.

Yup, as you can see, Amanda Tapping is gone, replaced by the bald head dude with glasses. That, of course, is Richard Picardo, of Star Trek Voyager fame, who has since become a permanent fixture, first of Stargate SG-1, and now Atlantis. His character, Woolsey, will be replacing Tapping’s Samantha Carter on the show as the head of the Atlantis Expedition.

If you’re wondering why, No, it’s not because the Sci Fi Channel fired Tapping, it’s because she has a new show that she’ll be starring in, the TV version of her web series Sanctuary, gearing up for production soon. Hence, the replacement by Woolsey.

The fifth season (wow, has it been five years already?), returns July 11th.
