Some of you out there may remember the teaser for Spike Jonze’s (“Where The Wild Things Are”) old school computer headed romance called “I’m Here”. It made it’s way to Sundance in it’s fullness and now is appearing online in it’s 35 minute glory.

“I’m Here” tells the story of two robots in love in the world of mostly humans. As in many relationships, the balance of love is not equal. The film was sponsored by Absolut Vodka but you’ll see only token product placement. Who doesn’t have a bottle or two sitting around? Streams of the film are limited to 5000 a day so get there early.

  1. The problem I have with this short is that there is no change in the protagonist. There is no transformation, and no character arc. Ultimately it is a simple, and predictable, portrait of a situation, beautifully and sensitively rendered, with a ‘neat’ device, but one-dimensional non-the-less. I think this is the reason why it is not as emotive as it might have been.
