Smallville Producer Hoping for a Season 10

Sci-Fi TV News, Smallville TV Series — By Nix on October 28, 2009

After hearing about a couple of intriguing upcoming guest appearances on the CW’s “Smallville”, I made it a point to DVR the show. Unfortunately the first episode of Season 9 that I really watched was the Green Arrow episode where he went through a cheapie TV version of David Fincher’s “The Game”, and oh my Lord was it bad. But hey, maybe that’s just me. Onto the news.

“Smallville” producer Kelly Souders tells Entertainment Weekly that she and the gang over at “Smallville” would really like to return for a tenth season. Or as Soulders puts it:

“We are really, really pushing for season 10. We really hope it happens.”

From what I can tell, at this point in the show Clark Kent is running around Metropolis as some kind of black trenchcoat wearing vigilante (sans mask), and is apparently so fast no one can tell what he looks like. Meanwhile, his acquaintances get into trouble and stuff.

The good news is that ratings for the show have not dropped as much as originally feared when the show was first moved to the Friday night timeslot, aka the Graveyard Shift for genre TV. And according to Soulders, she and the writing staff are approaching the Season 9 finale as a season finale, and not a series finale, which means she expects the show to continue onto a Season 10. The bad news in those comments by Soulders? If the show doesn’t get picked up, “Smallville” fans will be left without a series finale, and that’s gonna really suck.

Meanwhile, here’s a pic of Clark Kent teasing his trademark glasses from an upcoming episode.
