Sigourney Weaver Wants to Bring Back Ellen Ripley

Wow, can you believe that Sigourney Weaver is going to turn 60 in October? Ellen Ripley of “Alien”, “Aliens”, and the other two (that aren’t really worth mentioning) sequels fame? Yup, it’s true. And in an interview with OK! Magazine, Weaver is floating the idea of coming back as her most famous character, that of Ellen Ripley, in a fifth installment of the popular “Alien” franchise. And hey, why not? Harrison Ford is what, 120, and he’s back as Indiana Jones. Likewise with Rocky, Rambo, and John McClane.

The Hollywood actress is considering resurrecting her most famous character – shaven-headed, muscle-bound Alien heroine Ellen Ripley.
“I would definitely do another if I had a director like Ridley Scott and we had a good idea,” she says of the classic sci-fi movie franchise. “Ridley is enthusiastic about it.”
You know, I would like to see this. “Alien: Resurrection” wasn’t the best of the best, but it had a pretty nifty idea for an ending that would seem to beg for yet another installment. As I recall, “Resurrection” had a newly resurrected Ripley (she having died in part 3, of course) heading back to Earth, which, we assume, was already plagued by the alien creatures.
Here’s a title idea for the fifth one: “Alien 5: Earth vs. the Aliens”. Well, maybe not. But something like that, definitely involving saving Earth itself from the alien infestation.

The Aliens story marches on without a pause for breath. So why not connect back to a “character” from the first film?
Write the Space Jockey’s race into a script.
OK before everyone starts shouting me down I know this is a theme which has been done to death on all the fan sites but it is still a great idea.
Bring back Ellen Ripley and please bring back the Nostromo or one of its sister towing vessels.
Perhaps in this film we will find out where the drippy mouth aliens come from? Because if they are an example of the “wildlife” then what’s the rest of the ecosystem like?
Oh and yes…an Alien film without Sigourney Weaver would just not be right. Isn’t it about time that her character actually heads up the assault on the beasties?
