The “Blade Runner” faithful and Sci-Fi mavens everywhere will recognize Syd Mead as one of the genre’s greatest futurists, a man who translates the Sci-Fi vision into imagery for such films as “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”, “Tron”, “Aliens” and “Mission: Impossible III”.
A signed copy of Mr. Meads stunning “Blade Runner” concept art book Oblagon: Concepts of Syd Mead will be up for grabs at auction at the Bonhams & Butterfields’ 20th Century Decorative Arts auction this Tuesday in L.A. Other groovy “Blade Runner” objects will also be on hand for sale such as one of those amazing illuminated umbrellas that for some reason aren’t everywhere. Syd will be there also for a roundtable interview with Frances Anderton, host of KCRW’s Design and Architecture Podcast.
Below is a nice taste from the 17 pages of works within Oblagon. Thanks Wired.
