Look, folks, it’s not that I like to bash Robert Rodriguez, it’s just that, well, it’s fun to remind people that Rodriguez is one of those very enthusiastic kids who declares he’s going to do this and that, but ends up not doing either this or that. It’s that bundle of enthusiasm that pushed him to make his “El Mariachi”, the famous “shot for $7,000 film” that went on to make millions and made Rodriguez a hero to garage filmmakers everywhere. Unfortunately for Rodriguez, he fails to realize that he’s no longer a garage filmmaker, and when he goes on websites and announces that he’ll make this movie and that, people tend to, you know, believe him.

One of the films he’s been talking up is a live-action adaptation of “The Jetsons”. But like so many Rodriguez films in the past few years, that’s now gone by the wayside. The Playlist quotes Rodriguez as saying as much:

“I’m not doing ‘The Jetsons’.”

Short, succinct, and to the point.

So what is Rodriguez doing instead? He’s going to reboot his “Spy Kids” movie with an all-new cast and shoot it in, of course, 3D. Yay?

Sorry, cosplay fans, no Jetsons live-action movie for you! At least, not yet...
