Shia LaBeouf’s Hand Injury During Transformers Filming Was Pretty Bad
Sci-Fi Movie News, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) Movie — By endymi0n on June 22, 2009As fans of Sci-Fi and Shia LaBeouf may know, Shia got himself into a pretty bad little accident off set during the filming of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen”. In a car accident, Shia smushed his left hand and has had multiple surgeries to weave the thing back together. So how does an action movie with a ton of running around and jumping happen when the star of the film and primary runner and jumper can’t use his hand?
Shutting down a film for any length of time costs a ton of money so after Shia’s stunt guy faked as much of Shia as was possible, Michael Bay ordered a state of the art cast that included Kevlar finger protectors. The injury was added to the script as a “teleportation injury”. Happens to me almost every day.
“The problem was if he were to jam his fingers he could lose his fingers forever,” Bay was heard to say.
Shia sucked it up for the rest of the filming which was only half way done. According to Shia, the hand will never be the same and serves as a permanent reminder of his out of control previous life. Thanks Scifiwire.
