Sci Fi Channel Spins Off Ghost Hunters: College Edition

They’re not just plumbers, they’re also ghost hunters! Okay, I have to admit, that premise sold me on the Sci Fi Channel’s Ghost Hunters TV show when it first premiered a few years back. On the show, two plumbers name Jay and Grant go to supposedly haunted locales and try to catch ghosts (well actually, they don’t “catch” them, they pretty much just record them on audio and video recorders and show it to the home owners) with a small team of dedicated flunkies — er, I mean, assistants. It’s a pretty entertaining show, even if, undoubtedly, 90% of the “atmosphere” is manufactured in post. The show proved so popular that it is now launching a second spin-off show, College Edition.

More:

Tentatively titled “Ghost Hunters: College Edition,” the show features a group of students going around the country to seek out paranormal activity.

The students will be guided by an experienced ghost investigator. Producers have not determined if any cast members from the other shows will be involved in the new project.

The first spin-off was last year’s Ghost Hunters International, which took new castmembers (with the addition of original Ghost Hunters castmember Brian) around the world in search of more foreign-flavored ghosts. I saw a couple of episodes, but it just wasn’t the same (what, no plumbing bookends?), and I sort of tuned out. Still a big fan of the original, though.

No doubt this college-themed spin-off will feature more hot girls getting freaked out by ghosts. I’d watch that.

Below: Why cameras? Because even ghosts like to watch themselves doing stuff in the dark, that’s why.
