In David Twohy’s 2004 “The Chronicles of Riddick”, the very lovely Thandie Newton played Dame Vaako, a Lady Macbeth type who was constantly trying to manipulate her all-brawn husband Vaako (Karl Urban) into killing the movie’s main bad guy, Lord Marshall (Colm Feore) and usurp the throne. She finally gets her chance when Riddick (Vin Diesel) shows up. The rest is all very convoluted and overly uninteresting, but needless to say, Thandie Newton cut quite the figure throughout the movie in one of those futuristic/retro gowns they had her wearing. I don’t know how the woman even managed to move in that dress, to be honest with you, but it sure was visually very stimulating. Thandie Newton is our sci-fi babe of the day.
