Sam Worthington in talks for the “Flash Gordon” movie? Okay, probably not, but one of the gazillion gossip sites out there says they heard things, and since that’s apparently good enough for them, it’s good enough for us. Just remember that if it turns out to be complete and utter bullshit, it’s not our fault. But if it does end up being true, keep in mind that we were on top of it! In any case, according to Hollyscoop, here’s the word on the street — and of course by “street” I mean the coffee shops of L.A.:
Sources say Sam is up against the sexy Ryan Reynolds for the leading role in the sci-fi flick. “If he gets the role it would be quite a big deal as Flash is an all-American hero,” dished one Hollywood insider. “Right now it’s between Sam, Ryan Reynolds and one or two others for the lead role should the project actually get off the ground.”
That … is stupid. Ryan Reynolds is already playing Green Lantern, and he’s got “Deadpool” scheduled next. Where in the world would he even find the time to play “Flash Gordon” in the next few years if he won the part? And since that part of the “scoop” is obviously wrong, does that then make the whole article moot? You decide.
In any case, I wish they’d bring back Gina Holden from the SyFy Channel’s aborted “Flash Gordon” TV show. She’s purty.
