A tough-talking chick, a tall drink of a water ex-model, and some guy name Michael Pena. What do they have in common? They’ve all joined the cast of the Aaron Eckhart-fronted science fiction actioner “Battle: Los Angeles”, one of those movies that sounds so good if you’re a sci-fi fan that you immediately thought it had to be based on a videogame when you first heard about it. But nope, it’s an original script, and wouldn’t it be cool if they spun it off into a franchise that looks at other parts of the movie’s battle against the same alien invaders, but from the perspective of other cities? It will, of course, depend entirely on how “Los Angeles” does, box office-wise.
New castmembers Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena and Bridget Moynahan have enlisted in the Columbia Pictures movie, which is set to star Eckhart as a Marine platoon leader who must lead his men against alien invaders on the streets of Los Angeles during an all-out alien invasion of the planet. Jonathan Liebesman is set to direct, with Neal Moritz producing.
In the film, Rodriguez (top left) will play Corporal Adriana Santos, a member of a radio battalion, while Pena will play the father of a boy the Marines find along the way. The strikingly gorgeous Moynahan (below) will play a veterinarian and, in all likelihood, the love interest for Eckhart’s character.
Production on “Battle: L.A.” is set for fall this year, so look for it in 2010.
