Yes, you heard that correctly. They’re making a live-action movie based on the robosapien line of toys by Wow Wee (pictured left, bigger version below). I have absolutely no idea why, but apparently this thing is either very popular (I do see it everywhere, now that I think about it), or someone came up with a very clever idea. The premise, alas, sounds like “Short Circuit”, and not all that clever. The cast is made of of B-listers, fronted by Penelope Ann Miller, who has long since given up an A-list career in Hollywood. Bobby Coleman will play a boy who befriends a robot on the run from malevolent corporate interests in “Robosapien: Rebooted,” which has begun filming in New Orleans.

The cast also includes Penelope Ann Miller, David Eigenberg, Holliston Coleman, Joaquim de Almeida and Kim Coates.

Avi Arad and Steven Paul are producing the movie, based on Wow Wee’s Robosapien remote-controlled robot, under their respective Arad Prods. and Crystal Sky Pictures banners.

Wow Wee, indeed. I still can’t believe this is going to become a movie. Just … Wow.
