Robert Rodriquez is a hard guy to pin down. Lots of shiny little stories catch his eye. He seems just about to put a script to screen when something else will capture his attention and off he’ll go. Robert just finished or is finishing “Predators”, directed by Nimród Antal and is now leafing through his prospects to see what’s down the line for him.
Robert had planned his Blade Runnerish “Nervewrackers” to be ready for us by next month. That’s obviously not going to happen. Robert says he is waiting for his perfect actor to come free before he gets it going. Despite the delay, Robert continues to tweak the script day by day.
Here’s the synopsis for “Nervewrackers” for those forgetful types.
‘Nervewrackers is set in the year 2085 and centers on the character Joe Tezca, part of an elite uniut who is sent in to stop a crime wave amongst a perfect futuristic society. In the process, he discovers that ‘Nervewrackers’ are on a rampage for control of the city. Tezca consequently sets forth on a mission to reveal the cover up by the ruling class and stop the ‘Nervewrackers’ before time runs out.’
Besides “Nervewrackers”, “The Jetsons” seems to forever be ready to roll. “The Jetsons” of course is a 60′s cartoon series about the nuclear family of the future. The “Jetsons” would be a pretty big movie. Read, big budget.
Elizabeth Avellan (producer) has her say about the “Jetsons”.
‘There was one point where ‘The Jetsons’ was in place here … That would have been a much bigger project then we’ve ever done; you’d have to create a whole world from scratch. Right now it’s not in the cards. What we’re good at is keeping the budget low, by cutting out the paper work and keeping the effects in house.’
“Nervewrackers” is an original work by Robert so money is he’ll take a stab at that one in the near future. That is unless something pretty doesn’t pop up in Robert’s wheelhouse before then. Thanks to Collider for the quotes.
