Robert Rodriguez to Reboot Predator?

Robert Rodriguez can’t seem to get away from the notion of trying to make at least one science fiction movie in his lifetime. First there were those rumors that he would do a “John Carter of Mars” movie, which went nowhere; then he and fiancee Rose McGowan were going to remake “Barbarella”, but that one seems to have stalled as well. Now Rodriguez is ready to give sci-fi another chance — word from Bloody-Disgusting is that the Austin-based director plans to reboot the “Predator” franchise via his Troublemaker Studios.

BD has more on the potential plot of the reboot:

Now [here's] the kicker, the pitch being sent around town implies that the reboot will have more than one predator. “In the reboot a team of commandoes face down a mysterious race of vicious monsters.”

Sounds like they’re going the “more is more” route, which is no surprise. Rodriguez can’t spell the word “subtle”, much less show it onscreen. It’s full-bore or nothing with this guy, it’s always been, always will be, not that that’s a bad thing when you’re doing action movies where things are blowing up lots.

No writer has been attached, and it’s unknown if Rodriguez will actually direct or just produce.
