Ridley Scott’s Alien As It Could Have Been

More Humany Alien

It seems that in the early days before Ridley Scott’s defining creature feature “Alien” was totally fleshed out and committed to it’s eventual, acid drooling, face sitting and flesh rending self, Dan O’Bannon (screenwriter), Ron Cobb,  H.R. Giger, Syd Mead and Moebius had some other ideas.

Below is the concept art from the “Alien”/”Aliens” LaserDisc and features the early pre-Giger view of the creature itself, followed by early creature visionings by Giger, spaceship environs and other interesting bits and bobs. In the lot there is some James Cameron and Ridley Scott drawings from both “Alien” and “Aliens” as well as a Syd Mead heavy loader design that James rejected for “Aliens” but seems to have turned up in “Avatar”.
