It’s been ages since I first saw Richard Stanley’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi horror movie “Hardware”, and I recall that it was one of the most brutal, dark, depressing, and perverted movies I’ve ever seen. Of course that was back in 1990, so who knows how I’ll feel about the film now, 19 years later.
Severin Films would like you to find out, and they’ve released a DVD cover art for a new, remastered version (supposedly from Stanley’s personal print of the film) along with DVD specs due out September 29th. Via Twitch.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
- Audio Commentary with Director Richard Stanley
- Exclusive Making-Of Documentary Featuring All-New Interviews with Cast and Crew
- ‘Incidents In An Expanding Universe’ – Early Super 8 Version of HARDWARE
- ‘The Sea of Perdition’ – 2006 Richard Stanley Short Film
- ‘Rites of Passage’ – Early Richard Stanley Short Film

- Theatrical Trailer
- Deleted, Extended & Behind-the-Scenes Footage
To be honest with you, I don’t know how “harder” this unrated DVD could possibly be. As I recall, the original was pretty damn hardcore already, so I can only imagine how much more brutal, dark, depressing, and perverted this version will be.
Here’s the original trailer for the movie, in case you’ve never heard or seen it:
