Quick, Paul Greengrass needs a hit! After throwing a big pile of stink on the box office with his $100 million dollar flop “Jason Bourne in Iraq” movie “Green Zone”, director Paul Greengrass needs a hit, and the very commercial (and perhaps even shaky-cam proof) remake of “Fantastic Voyage” is just what the doctor ordered.
THR has Greengrass currently in negotiations to direct the film, with James Cameron producing.
Like the original, the remake will have a team of scientists being shrunk to atomic size and sent on a miniature submarine to save the life of a VIP, with the team’s encounters with the human ecosystem taking up the bulk of the running time. Of course, the original was Cold War-centric, but that’s a no-go in today’s world, so I’m guessing … War on Terror-ish?
With Cameron attached, you can of course expect vastly improved special effects. The film will also be shot and released in 3D, since duh, what film isn’t nowadays? Get ready to be attacked by a 3D liver!
